There was a celebration of the Jews in Jerusalem. And Jesus went there.
And they were waiting for the water to move.
They were waiting because sometimes an angel of the Lord went down into the pool. The angel would move the water. Then the first person to step into the water would be made well. He would get well no matter what sickness he had.
In the group, there was one especially poor man. He had been sick for thirty-eight years. Jesus saw him lying there, and Jesus knew that he had been sick for a long time.
Jesus spoke to the man. “Do you want to be made well?” The sick man answered, “Sir, I have no one to put me in the pool when the water is moved. And while I am getting in, some one else steps in before me.”
Jesus said to him, “Get up, take up your bed, and walk.” And right away the man was made well. He took up his bed and walked.
